I am finding myself in a bit of a conundrum lately.
I am struggling with a big decision.
One of the biggest decisions that women face.
And we face it frequently throughout our lives.
Usually.
It's "The Great Debate."
"The Inner Struggle."
The "What to do with my hair" dilemma.
If you're a man reading this blog:
Quit laughing.
It's a serious matter to us women.
It's a big decision.
Especially if you're like me:
Stuck with a significant other who has to give you their input on the whole matter.
*Le sigh*
So my hair has gotten very very long.
Too long.
Well, some days it's too long.
Some days it's just right.
Some days it's still too short.
(Shhh...I'm really Goldilocks in disguise...)
Whenever I shower, it's too long.
It takes too much work to wash.
Then dry.
Then comb.
Then style.
Blegh.
When I want to braid it, and do fun things with it,
It's still not long enough.
When all is said and done,
and I've got my hair cleaned and styled,
a cute outfit on, and my hunnie on my arm,
then it's just right.
[BUT] The problem is,
More often than not these days,
I feel like my hair is too long.
It takes too much work.
And any time I even mention the thought of cutting my hair, I swear, Thomas just about has a heart attack.
But it's to the point where I'm just like,
"Forget it if Thomas loves my long hair.
I hate it.
Most days..."
But I know if I cut it off, I'll regret it.
I'll miss my long hair.
That's how it always works.
I love my short hair the first hour.
Maybe day.
Then I'll be crying about missing my long hair.
But I'm thinking of doing it anyway.
So how short are we talking?
Shoulder-length.
Shoulder-length.
That means about 7-8 inches off.
Hmmm..
Even if I DO decide to cut it,
It's always scary trying a new style.
What if it looks great in a picture,
But ugly on me?!
Not okay.
And then there's actually trying to {find} the right haircut.
Does it fit my hair type?
Does it complement my face shape?
My best facial features?
My best facial features?
Then there are so many different features to think about!
Bangs or no bangs?
Layers or no layers?
Length? Shoulders? Chin?
Texturing?
Highlighting?
Ahhhh!!!
Men.
No matter what it comes to...
They have it so easy.
I totally get it. I really wish hair stylists had the gets to say, "Girl, this is so perfect you and your face shape try this" and then give a totally awesome hairstyle. but they never do. They always want a picture and want you to tell them exactly what you want, and when you have long hair they sometimes try to talk you out of it or want to double make sure you are ready and not nervous at all and ask so many times that I start to wonder if I should trust that person and I just want to say, "look! I am SURE I want it cut, I always have it long and straight and my hair grows fast and I'm so sick of it right now so just make me look good & If I knew what looked good on me and how to do it I would just cut it myself!"
ReplyDeleteEnough of that tho- You'd look great with any of those cuts. I say go for it.
I'm in that dilemma now. My mom and I usually get our hair cuts together, but I've been avoiding going because I know I'll want to cut my hair and then cry about getting it cut later. Maybe instead of 7-8 inches, 4-5, just in case you don't like it that short :)
